Ester
Nicholson by Cheryl

Even before the music began, the
room was filled with open hearts and
like minds with truly mystic and
enthusiastic energy. The event
was a relaxing evening of "New
Thought Music" called the Mystic
Note Cafe at the Center for
Spiritual Living in North Dallas
under the musical direction of
Michal Gott (www.csldallas.org).
The musicians were vocalists, choirs
and instrumentalists from area
congregations. And their
selections were jazzy, sacred,
bluesy and lyrical. To extend
the experience, CDs were available
in the lobby.
The headliner for the concert was
Ester Nicholson, recording artist
and Religious Science Practitioner.
Her performance at this venue came
at the end, but I did get the
opportunity to talk with here during
the intermission. I wanted to
know her favorite place to just "be"
in deep peace and quiet joy.
Without hesitation, she responded,
"In meditation." She can "be"
in meditation on the road or
anywhere, and no physical place is
required to connect with God.
I asked her what advice she would
offer a person who finds herself in
the midst of a life transformation
toward healing of any kind. I

could tell she had a wealth of
information to give but wanted to be
concise. She recommends being
anchored in Spirit before the crisis
occurs. Then just be still and
pray. Don't try to solve the
problem from the level of the problem,
but instead to within. Surround
yourself with people who will hold you
up in prayer. And give thanks.
Ms. Nicholson's first selection was
"Make Me Stronger" followed by
sharing of her 21-years-sober testimony.
She said that our journeys transform
each of us and the she performed
"Never Be the Same" to a delighted
audience. After she explained that
God is in the midst of any change, she
appropriately sang "Everything Must
Change". She then segued
effortlessly into "One Heart",
which seemed to be the theme of the
whole evening really. And lastly,
to satisfy the "unhealed child in me,"
she just unraveled the audience with
"Forever Young" from her touring
days as a back-up singer with Rod
Steward. All selections were from
her CD entitled "Child Above The
Sun". Music can be the great
equalizer and great connector among us.
And Ms. Nicholson will connect you to
your "inner church." I f you want
to see the love of God shine, experience
Ester Nicholson at your very next
opportunity (www.esternicholson.com).
You can also hear Ester Nicholson's
music form Child Above the Sun CD as the
backdrop for the award winning spiritual
talk show, The
Valder Beebe Show. |
